The Manipulative Center is made up of loose parts and items that can build fine motor and mathematical skills.
Puzzles:
Depending on the age and development of your child, you will want to offer different types of puzzles. Start with inset puzzles and then move to interlocking puzzles. Start with few pieces and move towards more pieces.

I love these puzzles because you can use the pieces for small world play. They are chunky enough that they stand up on a hard surface. Great to use for story retelling props!
Interlocking Puzzles:
We have several sets of these Melissa and Doug puzzle box sets. I like that they have 4 puzzles in each box. They also have symbols on the back to show you which puzzle piece goes into which compartment.
You can also purchase inexpensive boxed interlocking puzzles from the Dollar Tree. I like to cut the front picture from the cardboard box and slip all the pieces into a ziplock bag.
